The year was 1999 when Waxstreet.net launched it’s cutting edge online record store and DJ shop. After 9/11 the music industry took a vicious turn, and everyone headed for the hills, brick and mortar Record shops closed down, record sales were at it’s lowest point, and waxstreet.net was forced to close it’s doors in 2003. We’re Back!
In 2005 Michael Collier and Michael Barnett got together one Sunday afternoon out in the overcast SF hills to think of various ways we could help the dance music industry move forward. We thought, well we could bring the record shop back, but would that really help dance music move forward as it was intended? So, at the end of our 3 day summit we decided to resuscitate waxstreet, as waxstreet records. Pushing the envelope of positive dance music is our mantra and we will not stop until every electronic music enthusiast in every major market feels the bump, of waxstreet records. With that said, we are just your average everyday Joe’s like anyone else, and are not going to keep budding artists from the masses witnessing the music, so we will freely accommodate any artists who’s musical mastery matches our vibe, and would love to partner up. We are all about helping other artists move forward, and the positive representation of dance music.
